At SURVIVAL SOLUTIONS INNOVATIVE GEAR.....We're always looking for cutting edge products with the most potential return for your money.  We figure, the best way to get repeat customers is to help keep them alive!

We began this company in an effort to satisfy the growing need for quality American Made gear.  We began making quality leather sheaths.....the kind your grandfather would have passed on to you.  We're talking, hand made and 3/4" thick where the hilt of the blade meets the sheath.  Hand sewn with the heaviest available mil spec. nylon thread, blackened brass rivets and completely saturated with Snow Seal.

As versatile as a good knife can be, we wanted to offer supplemental survival equipment that was durable, convenient and waterproof.  To have a great knife and a worthy sheath in the field is a good thing.  But being able to add a small container with just enough materials to cover the basics is even better.

We wanted something small that could be carried everywhere - just in case one of those "routine" situations blossomed into an unexpected nightmare.

Originally, we had considered a sewn leather pouch to be incorporated into a prototype "survival sheath".  Although the survival sheath prototype met some of what we felt earmarked the design of a good survival kit, it lacked 5 important ones; waterproof if submerged, lots of cordage, maximum convenience, maximum versatility in methods of carry and the maximum possibility of carry (concealed or exposed) with the least amount of legal challenge....a feature that cannot be matched with a hollow handled survival knife.

All things considered, we came to the conclusion that to meet our criteria we would need a waterproof container, separate from the sheath, wrapped with 550 cord and tied with a lanyard.  Ideally, we wanted something durable, re-usable, with separate compartments to facilitate organization and expedience in removing and refilling the container's contents.  The only problem; there was no such thing to be found.  Survival Solutions Innovative Gear came into being and the D.E.W.C.was the result.  From that point on, the sole focus and intent of SSIG was to bring to the table, gear that could not be located elsewhere.

Until now, those who made the decision to have an emergency kit with them at all times have had to resign themselves to the home-made varieties that are either not entirely waterproof, ruined in the process of opening them up, too big, too bulky, too fragile or any combination in between.

We've experimented with different means of carrying the D.E.W.C.; hung around the neck, stuffed into a pocket, strapped around a belt and tucked inside the pants to conserve valuable pocket space, fanny packs, purses, rucksacks and strapped to a bare leg using ace bandages.  This little kit can truly go anywhere.  It's even been Jump Tested!

In the world of survival, knowledge is power and sometimes.....less is more.  Remember that NO kit can take the place of real skill and knowledge.  Be smart.  Survival skills aren't instinctive.  Watching reality T.V. doesn't equip you for an emergency any more than watching a boxing match gives you the necessary skills to fight a heavyweight champ.

If you rely on a "deluxe" survival kit to compensate for a lack of practical skill, you may be disappointed when you face the real thing.  Learn about survival skills before you need them and practice your skills from time to time.  Be prepared.  Never be without your Survival Container.  The D.E.W.C. is in your corner.
